Lets start this conversation!
Oh God, I am changing the focus of the blog and it has me in the biggest tail spin.
At the end of last year I thought I had it all figured out (as you do!). I was going to write lovely little titbits on city life, post delicious recipes and interview some of my favourite people. Tah-dah. Blogging sorted.
And then as always, life happens. Life in this instance, was a holiday. Three weeks in nature without any noise or distractions (wifi, I am looking at you!!). Lots of clear, blue skies, the desert, mountains and sea. Three weeks where I had time to think, but was unable to make real changes or take action. (I know! A hard life!)
The strange thing about taking time out is that it give us the space to just be … to think, chat, meditate …no fast action required and it is something I very seldom do. I read, listen to music, meet up with friends and family, scroll the internet …but time out…to do nothing…never!!
So through reflections, conversations and just being, I realised, I have the best conversations with my friends and family. Conversations where we discuss everything from love, life, news, fashion. Where we let our guard down, feel understood and we grapple with life, without feeling judged, but also have disagreements (without loosing friends!!). Conversations that continue in Whatsapp and email, days after speaking…
I also thought about the blog a bit and at some point these two thoughts fused. I realised that I want the blog to be an extension of the conversations that I am having in real life. The conversations that leave me wanting just another coffee, where we sit in the cafe way to long and the waiters give us evils, wondering when we will leave.
But these conversations are also really difficult to put into writing and so I avoided looking at the blog or thinking about it. That is until I started thinking ‘If not now, when’ . Quite powerful when you have absolutely no excuses.
…and so I am changing the tone of the blog. There will still be small titbit articles, recipes and hopefully some awesome interviews…but it will also be a place where conversations happen (or maybe just monologues from me). A little space in the internet for contemplating life, love and everything else.
How do you feel about change? Does it scare you? Do you love doing new things? I am definitely up for some more changes but I am also taking time out from life to sit and reflect. To listen to my inner voice that is so often silenced.
