London Curated: The Bakery

Simple. Understated. Hidden away. St John Neal’s Yard Bakery, should be on your London list.

Why, you may ask… a bakery, is a bakery!

Well, this is the first permanent bakery, from the iconic St John team. A team who have revolutionised London dining over the last 25 years! Renowned for their simplicity and outstanding dishes, they put food at the heart of everything . Meals you dream about, days after visiting. Their roast bone marrow and parsley salad is legendary. The eccles cake and Lancashire cheese take me back, time and time again!

Luckily, they have kept to the same principals at the bakery. The emphasis on exquisite simplicity. Focusing on what matters: The baked goods! Think beautiful sourdough and rye breads. Delicious doughnuts filled with seasonal jams and decadent cream fillings. Freshly made pastries and a small selection of sandwiches - three sandwich options to be exact.

There is no seating here, apart from a bench outside the shop, but if you want to enjoy your purchases immediately (and who can blame you), I highly recommend you sit in the courtyard on one of the public benches. Instant gratification and excellent people watching.
